Lisa Hawker
I am a ceramic artist living in the Surrey Hills, living my best life, in a tiny village close to Cranleigh, Surrey where I currently rent the pottery at ‘Cranleigh Arts’.
For more than thirty years I have been attempting to ‘get to grips’ with clay; working mainly to commission for many different clients to create architectural; three dimensional and both figurative & abstract ceramics.
In 2025 I celebrate being in the business of ‘making stuff with clay’ for 30 years.
After over a decade of working solely to commission I made the decision in 2017 to start creating work to then sell. It’s a completely different way of working and both approaches have their own benefits. Working to commission offers a discipline that can help inform the design whereas working to your own brief offers a freedom that can’t be underestimated. I love being surrounded by nature as I am here and want to express the complete joy I get from this through my work. Making simply helps me feel like me.
If you hadn’t already gathered, I love clay, with an enduring passion for this malleable mud; everything about it offers the opportunity to learn more and I just hope that my work similarly makes people feel something; a connection maybe, and reflects the sheer joy I get from making it..
Please feel free to contact me for any more information; how to commission your own piece of ceramic art, or to buy any of the work available on the gallery pages.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit,
Lisa
